Ethel after Megan’s head?

IN the first PBB Celebrity 2 eviction night last Saturday, Megan Young was saved by text voters with a very high 87.89%. Ethel Booba as head of household nominated her automatically for the second time and Megan’s supporters feel she did so because she’s envious of Megan who’s prettier, younger and not a retokada like her.

But will her supporters be able to save Megan again tonight now that she’s up against Zara Aldana (who got ten votes) and two-in-one housemates Baron and Donald Geisler (actually, it was Baron who got nine votes and Donald was “nadamay lang”)? For its Halloween presentation, “PBB” gave its housemates the chance to sacrifice for people in need. Riza, McCoy and Victor were allowed to leave the house to help the family of someone who died. They were sent to the morgue to prepare the remains of the deceased for the funeral. Riza, current head of household, was chosen as she had a cousin who died recently in Canada and she was not able to go there because of commitments here in the Philippines. Victor was chosen because his dad died five years ago and he wasn’t even able to go to the wake as he’s a love child. McCoy accompanied them since he’s used to dead people since his family has a funeral parlor.

Racer Gaby and comedian Ruben were told to act like the statues of St. Michael and the Devil at the PBB garden, with Baron putting hot melted candle on their hands as part of their sacrifice. But later, Gaby felt bad as she thought Kuya did not acknowledge the sacrifice she did with Ruben. Kuya explained that he’s just waiting for everyone to finish all their assignments and ‘all’s well that ends well’ with them. The housemates won for all their sacrifices. Some of them even cried knowing that they were able to help some people on All Souls Day, even if Kuya subjected them to some scary experiences during the season. About 100 kids also visited them in costume for Trick or Treat and the housemates were also in costume as they celebrated Halloween in Kuya’s house.

Boy Abunda nag-sorry para kay Mariel

ANG manager na ni Mariel Rodriguez na si Boy Abunda ang humihingi ng pang-unawa at dispensa sa tinuran ng kanyang alaga in one of the episodes of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2.

Kamakailan kasi, nag-dialogue si Mariel sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya na kadiri ang showbiz habang kausap nito si Jon Avila.

Marami ang nag-react sa statement na ’yun ni Mariel dahil hindi naman tama na marinig ang mga ganu’ng salita mula sa kanya since nasa showbiz din naman siya.

Unfortunately, hindi napanood ni Kuya Boy ang naturang episode at gusto niya munang malaman kung paano nasabi ni Mariel ’yun. Baka naman daw kasi may pinanggalingan ang statement.

Nevertheless, siya na ang humihingi ng dispensa sa mga nasabi ng alaga.

“Ano pa nga ba, eh, ’di eto na naman ako at humihingi na naman po ng sorry,” sabi ni Kuya Boy sa mga nakatsikahang reporter recently.

Angelika: I've nothing against Juday

DOES Angelika de la Cruz have something against Judy Ann Santos? How come she chose to play villain to Kristine Hermosa in “Prinsesa ng Ban-yera” and not to Juday in “Ysabella”?

“I have nothing against Juday,” she says. “I consider her my friend since we did ‘Esperanza’ na sisters kami. It’s just that mas maganda talaga ang role ko in ‘Prinsesa ng Ban-yera’ as I’m not a villain here. Pantay ang role namin ni Kristine as twin sisters. Ang kaibhan lang, masyado akong ambis-yosa rito.

“Iniwan ko sila ng mommy naming si Jaclyn Jose dahil ayokong maging poor and I joined our rich lola, Lollie Mara. I’m avoiding kontrabida roles kasi mahirap ma-typecast sa ganun. Mas okay ‘yung marami kang klase ng roles na ginagawa. I told my manager, Boy Abunda, that I don’t really like villain roles anymore. He told me it’s my fault kasi I was so good in ‘Bituing Walang Ningning’ as kontrabida to Sarah Geronimo kaya puro villain roles ang offers sa akin after that.”

She and Kristine have something in common. They’re both ex-GFs of Jericho Rosales. How is it working with Kristine now? “No problem. We’ve worked before na naman in ‘Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas’ at hindi na-ging issue ‘yun sa amin. I’m glad to be working with her again in ‘Prinsesa ng Banyera’.”

She has not made a movie for a long time. Is she very choosy? “Actually, may offers, but all sexy films require me to disrobe. Eh, hindi ko talaga kaya. I don’t have to go bold at hindi naman ako naghihirap. I admire those who have the guts to do it. As for me, hindi rin gusto ng parents ko at ng non-showbiz boyfriend ko na magpa-sexy ako.”

May regalo si Jay-R kay Maja. Isa itong necklace pero hindi namin alamkung white gold ba ito o silver.

“Nakaka-touch, kasi alam ko na marami pang bayarin si Jay-R at nagsisimula pa lang din siya, pero nag-effort si-yang magbigay ng gift,” kuwento ni Maja.

Ipinahayag din ni Jay-R ang kanyang pagmamahal at pasasalamat kay Maja.

“Napakasuwerte ko dahil siya ang nakapartner ko. Hindi siya madamot magturo, hindi siya mahirap pakisamahan. Wala siguro ako rito ngayon kung hindi dahil sa kanya,” wika pa niya.

THE country’s favorite heartthrob and leading man is looking better than ever. Aba, certified box-office hit ang latest movie niyang A Love Story kasama sina Maricel Soriano and Angelica Panganiban under Star Cinema.

Nananatili ring perfectionist and passionate si Aga sa kanyang craft. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit siya ang naging favorite spokesperson ng (Carbocisteine) Solmux sa magkasunod na taon.

“Sa Prinsesa ng Ban-yera, siguradong kikiligin na naman ang mga fans sa eksena nina Tin (Kristine) at TJ,” ani Andoy Ranay, director ng teleserye.

“Pero mas dapat nilang abangan ang mga confrontation scenes nila Tin at Angelika (Dela Cruz).”

Unang nagkasama sila Kristine at Angelika sa top-rating soap ng Kapamilya network na Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas.

Ang Prinsesa ng Ban-yera ay kuwento ng kambal na magkapatid, si Maningning (Kristine) at Mayumi (Angelika) na mamumuhay ng magkahiwalay dahil sa kani-kaniyang pangarap.

Ang isa ay lumaki nang matiwasay at kumpor-table, habang ang isa naman ay nakipagsapalaran sa mahirap at magulong buhay sa Pier. Sa kanilang paghahanap ng kaligayahan at pag-ibig, muling magtatagpo ang landas nina Maningning at Mayumi, pero magawa pa kaya nilang tanggapin ang isa’t isa?

DEAD SERIOUS IN SINGING CAREER

JERICHO Rosales is dead serious in developing a career in music so he’s now
having his first solo concert, “Raw Energy,” at the Music Museum on October 18 and 19, 8 p.m. It’s also his way of celebrating his 10th anniversary in showbiz after he was launched as part of Star Circle Batch 4 with Kristine Hermosa, Dominic Ochoa, and Vanessa del Bianco. Last year, he took a 10-month leave from acting and concentrated on his singing, launching a band called Jeans and their 14-track album, “Loose Fit,” under EMI Records, also launched in Malaysia and soon, other Asian countries. They’re now promoting their new single, “Tuwing Nakikita,” with a music video that Echo himself directed.

“I really want to thank Sir Gary for co-producing and co-directing the concert with me,” he says. “I consider him an idol and also my mentor as I learned so much from him about music. I have a nice feeling working with an artist who can understand me no matter how wild and crazy my ideas can be. Heart wants a heart-to-heart talk between her dad and Jericho

AT first, when Heart Evangelista was offered to play the role as Cassie in “Pangarap Na Bituin,” she was reluctant to accept it. She thought she would be playing an all-out anti-hero and feared that fans of Sarah Geronimo will turn hostile on her.

But when she fully read the script, she thought it’s something she hasn’t done. As the story would develop, viewers will gradually love Heart’s character and understand her.

Fans are curious whom Terence, the character played by Heart’s real life boyfriend, Jericho Rosales, would end up with. Terence is now Emerald’s (Sarah Geronimo) boyfriend.

Meanwhile, the good news is: Heart has reconciled with her dad, Rey Ongpauco, whom she had not spoken with for the past three years. Being a father’s daughter, it is understandable that Mr. Ongpauco would be so protective of her that when she fell in love with Jericho, he had some misgivings about it. But then, she chose to defy all odds.

Being a daughter of a well-off family, some people say Heart does not deserve someone like Jericho. But who can say what’s wrong and what’s right when one falls in love?

The next thing that Heart hopes to happen is a heart-to-heart talk between her dad and Jericho.

Yeng, Itchyworms sing 101.9 For Life’s new jingle

IT’S a dream come true for Pinoy Dream Academy Grand Star Dreamer Yeng Constantino when she finally collaborated with the band Itchyworms for 101.9 For Life’s new jingle in celebration of the station’s 11th anniversary. “It was great working with them. They are one of the bands that I really look up to in the industry so it was such an honor for me,” said Yeng. With music made by Sandwhich’s Raimund Marasigan, Yeng and Itchyworms worked on the station’s jingle that basically talks about the listeners’ everyday lives.“The song was so cool. I’m sure the audience will relate to it with its message and appreciate its modern band beat as well,” she added. According to Station Manager Eli Capuyan, Yeng and Itchyworms were chosen because they perfectly fit the type of music they would like to create. Aside from the new jingle, which is currently being played by the station, there will also be a series of concerts called ‘Halakhak and Roll” as part of its month long celebration, “Bespren@ll!” The public is invited to party with its DJs, now called ‘Besprens,’ on Sept. 21 at the PDA Hall; Sept 28 at Tiendesitas; Oct 6 at the Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall; and Oct 13 at the Oreta Sports Complex, Malabon. It will be a night of fun, laughter, and good music as the country’s top bands will be there like Sugarfree, Cueshe, Spongcola, 6 Cycle Mind, Calla Lily, Bloomfieids, Itchyworms, Imago, Hale and Moonstar, together with(premiere stand up comedians like Chocoleit, Vice Ganda, and Martin D Icon.
